feindflug

''feindflug'' is an east german ''power electronic / e.b.m. / industrial / rhythmic noise'' band, founded in 1995 in ''chemnitz'' (former ''karl-marx-stadt''), germany. the name ''feindflug'' means ''flight against the enemy'' & it was originally a project title, rather than a band name. recurring themes in their music & artwork are totalitarianism, world war two, the soviet union & nazi germany.
in the late 1990’s the band was accused of links with the german ''neo-nazi'' scene, due to the project’s themes, the presence of right-wing fans at their concerts, & especially because they first appeared on a right-wing label ''v.a.w.s.'' (a.k.a. ''verlag & agentur werner symanek''). ''v.a.w.s'' published clearly ''neonazi'' videos & german nationalist materials, but also spearheaded a right-wing attempt to breakthrough in german music scenes beyond ''oi'' & ''r.a.c.''. ''feindflug'' rejected the critique & read a formal statement of denial at their concert at the 1999 ''wave gotik treffen''. they stated that their music is intended as criticism of the issues it describes, not as glorification:

x marks the pedwalk

founded by ''andré schmechta'' (a.k.a. ''sevren ni-arb'') & ''jörg böhme'' (a.k.a. ''regan eracs''), the german ''dark waved electronic / electronic / e.b.m. / industrial'' band, ''x marks the pedwalk'' expanded upon the ''euro-synth pop'' of the '80s with harsher ''electronic'' rhythms & alternative themes. ''andré'' had played keyboards with several '80s ''synth'' bands, but founded the group ''scarecrow'' with  ''jörg''  in 1987. the duo released the ''black door e.p.'', but in 1989 changed their name to ''x marks the pedwalk'' (name was taken from a short story by ''fritz leiber'') for the release of the "arbitrary execution" single on the prolific ''zoth ommog'' label. two more singles followed in the next year ("danger" & "disease control") before the pair released their debut album, ''freaks'', in 1991. they released several e.p.'s during 1991-1992, after which ''jörg'' left the band. ''andré''  then recruited his brother, ''thorsten'' (a.k.a. ''raive yarx''), as a replacement. the brothers' first release, ''human desolation'', appeared in 1993. one year later, ''x marks the pedwalk'' gained a contract with the american ''industrial'' label ''cleopatra''. 1994's ''the killing had begun'' was the first l.p. released under the contract. an album of mixes & b-sides, titled ''air back trax'' for its ''zoth ommog'' issue, was renamed into ''abbatoir'' for its ''cleopatra'' release late in 1994. another compilation album, the american-only, ''four fit'', appeared in 1995, as did the group's fourth proper album, ''meshwork''. in 1996, ''drawback'' album came out for ''zoth ommog'' & in 2010 their latest album release, ''inner zone journey'', but for ''infacted recordings'' label.
here is their absolute best:

01. ''facer'' (compilation, ''infacted recordings'' release, limited edition, 2010)

velvet acid christ

''velvet acid christ'', an ''dark waved electronic / electronic / e.b.m. / industrial'' band, had their origins in an 80's high school electronics class, where ''bryan erickson'' & ''chris workman'' would debate the merits of ''amiga'' vs. ''atari''. ''bryan'' & ''grigory bilham'' (an early member of ''velvet acid christ'') were at the time working in a ''punk / funk'' band, which, by 1990, was altered to the trio of ''bryan'', ''chris'' & ''grig''. the band's name was originally ''cyberchrist'', although this was changed within a few months to ''velvet acid christ'', named (so they say) in honor of a bad acid trip. ''grig'' left the band in 1992, leaving the core of ''bryan'' & ''chris'' (although various other people have had revolving door membership in the band). the current line up is ''bryan erickson'' on his own.
among so many ''velvet acid christ'' releases i decided to post:

01. ''caustic disco'' (e.p., 2010)

imperative reaction

formed in 1996 by ''david andrecht'' & ''ted phelps'', ''imperative reaction'' began as the remnants of the ''los angeles'' based ''d.n.a.''. an early demo tape entitled ''debris'' was released in the summer of 1996 only to be recalled & destroyed after the band decided to start all over with fresh material. after some experimentation, ''imperative reaction'' started working on a new demo to be released the following year. their second effort, ''persistence of memory'', set the ''los angeles'' scene ablaze. with this release, ''phelps'' & ''andrecht'' earned a spot on the critically acclaimed compilation album, ''exoskeleton volume 1'' released on ''possessive blindfold recordings'' in the winter of 1997 with song ''predicate. driven by the overwhelming response to the song, ''imperative reaction'' set out to record their full-length debut in january of 1998. after a short tour to support the ''exoskeleton'' release, ''imperative reaction'' & ''positive blindfold recordings'' parted company leaving ''imperative reaction'' free to sign with ''pendragon records'' in october 1998.
in february of 1999, ''eulogy for the sick child'' was released. comprised of material created during the band's short, three-year history, ''eulogy'' was an immediate success in the u.s., which prompted the legendary ''zoth ommog records'' to license the album for the european market, in april of 1999.
in the summer of 1999, ''metropolis records'' bought ''pendragon records'' so ''imperative reaction'' went major league. with the addition of ''jason d.m.''  & ''sam p.'' of ''pulse legion'' to the live band, 2000 proved to be a very important year for ''imperative reaction''. Their explosive live shows became much more engaging than they had been in the past. they began to build a reputation for itself as a must-see band as offers from venues all over north america began to pour in. in august, ''phelps'' & ''andrecht'' completed work on ''rift'' which would be featured on the ''counterbalance'' compilation on ''inception records'' the following year.
In 2001, ''phelps'' spent the entire year writing & recording. in september, a setback occurred in the form of lost data on the main hard drive used for the recordings. in addition to pushing back the release date of the album to april 2002, it completely changed the sound & direction of the album. the album, ''ruined'', proved that there was more to ''imperative reaction'' than relentless club hits. the honesty of the lyrics matched with the raw intensity of the music that supported them set ''ruined'' apart from other ''electronic industrial'' bands. touring in support of the record from 2002 to 2003, the band performed in front of capacity crowds & gained many, many new fans with the successful tour. shortly afterwards, work began on their follow-up record. taking nearly a year to complete, ''redemption'' was established in early 2004. more aggressive than it's predecessors, ''redemption'' has a unified feel from start to finish. each track complements the next without any letdown, & all of them could easily be a dance floor hits. explosive beats, smooth programming, highly charged sequences, & vocals that accentuate the message in the lyrics made ''redemption'' imperative reaction's greatest album to date.
In 2005, with a tour in support of ''v.n.v. nation'', ''imperative reaction'' began work their new album set for release in the fall 2006. with their ever-growing fan base, the band was been bombarded with requests to re-release their out of print debut ''eulogy for the sick child''. the re-issue is completely re-vamped & re-mastered with brand new artwork (including lyrics), two unreleased tracks from the ''eulogy'' recording sessions & a 2006 remix of their 1999 club hit ''scorpio''. in 2006, also, their new album ''as we fall'' went out. another ''electronic / e.b.m. / industrial / synth-pop'' outstander. until than till now, two more albums were released: in 2008 came ''minus all'' & in 2011, their self-titled ''imperative reaction''.
what i'm bring to you here is their:

quadrophonia

''lucien foort'' (''dutch'' d.j., producer & remixer) & ''olivier abbeloos'' (music producer from ''aalst'', belgium) as ''quadrophonia'' were one of those pioneers of so called ''orbital house'' (even if its not ''house'' at all...), which gain world popularity only after an appearance of the famous ''the k.l.f.''. ''quadrophinia'' released only one album, but this one remained recorded as one of the most important in the history of modern ''electronic'' music:

m.c. 900 ft. jesus & d.j. zero

some may say that this duo was responsible for the birth of so-called ''industrial hip-hop'' in the late 80's & the early 90's, which is not so far away from truth. but i would rather like to think of them as one of the pioneers who started something what i call ''freestyle fusions'', in today's modern music. it's a genre that tends to mix everything, or mostly everything into one, & in this case it's ''electronic / hip-hop / funk / afrobeat / spoken word'' sound-deal:

01. ''a view to m.c. 900 ft. jesus & d.j. zero'' (compilation, unofficial release, 1994)

''small colin''. one is in ''portalnd'', u.s. & the other, somewhere in sweden. their music is what is known as ''electronica'', but in this case i prefer - ''electronic / ambient / freestyle electronic / i.d.m. / drone / post-rock / chiptune / electro''. it's the best release i've found in these past 4 days of new 2012, so do check it (video of one of the remixes is available too):

halogen

''halogen'' is ''adam janota-bzowski'' from ''london'', u.k. a talented young producer creating lush, gorgeous music that demonstrates an emotional depth well beyond his mere 21 years.
between gentle abstract structures, quirky glitched undertones & distintive melodic bass lines that build gradually, he is managing to evoke emotionally charged soundscapes leaving the listener wanting to experience the whole deal, again & again. the most wonderful sound creation with i could imagine to start a new year... this is one outstanding piece of ''ambient / i.d.m.'' mastery:

01. ''length & brecht remixed'' (single, 2009)
